French artist Pierre Carrier-Belleuse (1851-1932) a painter in both oil and pastel was highly acclaimed for his theatrical and ballet studies. He was born in Paris and became a student of Alexandre Cabanel at the Beaux-Arts school and of Galland. A regular exhibitor at the salons from 1875 onwards, his work can be now found in many museums throughout France.
