Lt. Kelly Lanning and his new wife, Megan O'Brien, enjoy a Pedi Cab ride following their wedding ceremony on Military Island in Times Square. They joined four other military couples pledging their love and commitment for each other as well as the country in a ceremony covered widely by the New York media. A small number of family and friends were on hand to witness the ceremony coordinated by WE TV and the USO of Metropolitan New York.

Tribute in Light, 2004 memorial of Sep 11 attacks on WTC Twin Towers

The Tribute in Light, an art installation of 88 searchlights placed next to the site of the World Trade Center to create two vertical columns of light in remembrance of the September 11 attacks, initially ran as a temporary installation from March 11 to April 14, 2002. It was re-launched in 2003 to mark the second anniversary of the attack, and as of 2010, it has been repeated every year on September 11. On December 17, 2009, it was confirmed that the tribute would continue through to the tenth anniversary of the attacks in 2011. More info can be had at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribute_in_Light.

The sculpture ‘Andromeda and the Sea Monster’, made by the prominent Italian Baroque sculptor Domenico Guidi (1625-1701), is currently at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City, USA.

The Toilet of Bathsheba by Rembrandt van Rijn

‘The Toilet of Bathsheba’, or ‘Batseba aan haar toilet (2 Samuel 11:2)’, a 1643 oil on oak painting by Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669) or by the workshop of Rembrandt, dimensions 57.2 cm x 76.2 cm (22.52” x 30.00”) currently located in Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City. On 9 June 1913 the painting was bought by Paris art dealer Duveen at the sale of the collection of Jhr. Hendricus Adolphus Steengracht, The Hague, at the auction house Georges Petit, Paris. From Duveen, the same year, it was bought by Benjamin Altman of New York and bequeathed to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York by Altman.
